Changing the Game. . .Prioritizing Women’s Athletic Health
The Colorado Pride Senior Women’s Pro-Am team is pleased to announce that through their partnership with the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group (CSOG) there will be a clinic open to the public targeting athletes age 13+ with a specific emphasis on topics facing female athletes.
Title: Changing the Game. . .Prioritizing Women’s Athletic Health
When: Tuesday, June 21, 2022; 2:00pm-5:30pm
Where: Pride Soccer Complex
Who: athletes age 13+; particular focus on female athletes and soccer players
How: practitioners from CSOG will lead hands-on sessions and demonstrations at a variety of stations set up on the field that players and parents can rotate through
Topics: Injury prevention; strengthening activities for knees, ankles, hips, glutes & core; neuromuscular training and mechanics; dealing with post exercise and competition treatment and recovery
Special Topic area: Dr. Jamie Friedman of CSOG, former team physician to the Colorado Avalanche, CU Football & Basketball, and DU Hockey, will lead a group discussion and Q&A on her passion and focus areas related to sports medicine for the female athlete.
Cost: Free, courtesy of the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group & Pride Soccer Club
According to CSOG Marketing Director, Chelsey Valerio, “we are so excited to offer this clinic to stress the importance of preparation and recovery for athletes. We couldn’t be more pleased to partner with an organization like the Pride Soccer Club and specifically, the senior women’s team”
Colorado Pride head coach, Andi Waterhouse, who knows something about competing at the highest levels and managing injuries after a storied career at Santa Clara University and then going on to play in the NWSL adds, “we are so fortunate to have Dr. Friedman offer her expertise and insight to the challenges that every athlete faces along with the staff at CSOG who are being so generous with their time, because like the Pride, they put the well- being of the athlete ahead of anything else.”
