Thomas H. Mahony, MD has more than 32 years experience as an orthopedic surgeon.   He returns to Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group where he practiced for 17 years. He was in solo practice as Athletic Orthopaedics of Colorado Springs for 15 years.  He has returned to CSOG, “so that my patients will be gradually transferred to people I know and trust” as he moves toward gradual retirement.  His practice is housed at the St. Francis Medical Center Campus with a focus on knee injuries and sports medicine.  He will also consult on sports related injuries. 

Dr. Mahony is a long-term active participant in the national sports medicine community.  He has served as chief physician for the Colorado College athletic teams and sports medicine department since 1978.  He invented the fixation system for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction which was the precursor for the bioabsorbable  systems used today. He has also worked with several US Olympic teams and served as orthopedic surgeon for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary.  Dr. Mahony enjoys being listed as one of the Best Doctors in America as recognized by his peers.
