Dr. Stringer started his practice in Colorado Springs in 1980. He spent 15 years as President and Program Chair for the El Paso County Orthopaedic Society (the Bombers). He was the first Chairman of the Orthopaedic Department at Penrose St. Francis Hospitals and was chief of their medical staff from 1998-2000. He was Chief Medical Counsel to the United States Olympic Committee from 1990-1995 and was Medical Director for the 1995 US Olympic Festival.

Dr. Stringer served several terms as Secretary, Program Chairman and President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Western Orthopaedic Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the Western Orthopaedic Association as Membership Chairman and on the Board of Directors for the Clinical Orthopaedic Society, the nation's oldest orthopaedic organization. He accepted a position with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Board of Councilors for a six-year term beginning in 2005.  In addition, he will serve as President of the Western Orthopaedic Association 2010 - 2011
